About Playtex
During the 1930's the International Latex Corporation founded by Abraham Nathanial Spanel, a Russian immigrant. The first Playtex products were a beach and shower cap, baby pants and a makeup cape. Playtex was the first company to advertise girdles and bras on TV, but actress and model Jane Russell had to wear a polo neck with the bra on top to get round strict regulations. During the 1980's Playtex became the first advertiser to use human models without outer-wear in TV commercials.
